What is permanent jewelry?Permanent jewelry is a clasp-less, welded piece of jewelry that can be applied to many areas of the body, including but not limited to: neck, wrists, fingers, toes and ankles. The word "permanent" refers to the fact that once it's welded around your body, there is no clasp to remove it! While we only offer the highest quality chains, charms and connectors at bijoux x brie - no jewelry is indestructible.
-
How does permanent jewelry work?Permanent jewelry is applied with a pulse arc welding machine which allows for dainty metals to be welded together in the fraction of a second. The quick spark of the machine welds the metal together which eliminates the need for a clasp. The spark generated during this process is not of high temperature, which results in quick and safe application. Each piece of permanent jewelry is custom fit to the client for a truly unique and personalized experience. All you need to do is: 1. Pick your chain. 2.. Pick your charm - naked chains are ok too! 3. Get linked!
-
Does permanent jewelry hurt? Not at all! Permanent jewelry is completely safe and painless. You won’t feel a thing because we’re only working with the metal—not your skin. At bijoux x brie, we are proud partners of Sunstone Permanent Jewelry, the industry leader in professional permanent jewelry equipment. Unlike some jewelers who use repurposed orthodontic tools, our machines are specifically designed for permanent jewelry, ensuring the safest and most precise experience. Plus, with our advanced equipment, even if your skin accidentally touches the welding area, it won’t generate a spark—so there’s nothing to worry about! When you choose bijoux x brie, you’re choosing quality, safety, and expertise.

How long does getting permanent jewelry take? The length of your appointment will vary depending on the permanent jewelry chain and charms or connectors chosen, as well as the location on your body. Most pieces take 5 - 10 minutes.

Is permanent jewelry really permanent?Depending on the material selected and how well you care for your fine jewelry, permanent jewelry should last between 1 to 10 years+. 14K Gold chains can last a lifetime with proper care. Gold Filled jewelry is not designed to last forever and will eventually wear with time. Keep in mind chain will stretch over time, and dangling charms and chains may snag on clothing and other items, which is why your permanent jewelry from bijoux x brie is custom fit by our Certified Permanent Jewelry Artist. While permanent jewelry is designed to last, its lifespan ultimately depends on your lifestyle and how well you care for it. At bijoux x brie, we use only the highest quality materials, and every weld is carefully double-checked with a twist test to ensure durability. That said, no jewelry is completely indestructible and many of the chains we offer are dainty in size. We cannot guarantee how long your piece will last, and we are not responsible for lost or broken jewelry. However, we’ve got you covered—all permanent jewelry purchases include one free reweld if your piece breaks at the weld site. Our goal is to provide you with jewelry you’ll love for years to come. Treat it with care, and it will stay with you as a lasting keepsake. Story Time: When Brie got her first piece of permanent jewelry, a 14K Gold Filled bracelet, she selected a cute, dangling wishbone charm. While absolutely adorable, it was not compatible with her work and #momlife. It broke off within a few weeks, but the bracelet is still completely intact and shiny to this day - three years strong!) Should you need to remove your permanent jewelry simply locate the jump ring (small metal circle, which holds the chain together) and cut it with scissors or nail clippers. This will keep the chain intact and allow you to reweld it at a later date or add a clasp.

What is the difference between 14K Gold & Gold Filled jewelry?Solid gold is referred to as 24K, as gold purity is measured in 24 parts. 14K Gold means that the jewelry is 14 parts gold and 10 parts alloy metal (typically this alloy is a mix of copper and silver, occasionally zinc is also used). 14K Gold jewelry is considered fine jewelry and can last a lifetime. Gold Filled jewelry is very similar to solid gold. They hold many of the same qualities, yet it requires less of an investment. When gold jewelry is filled 5% of the jewelry is 14K Gold. It is made by pressure bonding a layer of gold to the surface of a base metal, typically brass. This is 100x more gold than gold plated jewelry and due to the pressure bonding, it deteriorates at a much slower rate than gold plating. bijoux x brie offers 14K Gold & Gold Filled jewelry in yellow and rose, as well as .925 Sterling Silver.

How do I care for my permanent jewelry?Permanent jewelry can undergo years of wear without needing to be removed for professional cleaning. However, to maintain the the integrity of your permanent jewelry, aftercare is recommended. Your jewelry comes into contact daily with many substances, chemicals and debris. Think about rain, humidity, sweat, lotion, perfume, lint from clothing, etc. You can clean your permanent jewelry by using a soft jewelry cleaning cloth (included with your purchase) or if it needs a little scrub use warm water and Dawn dish soap with a baby tooth brush (this is also a great way to get your diamonds & gold to sparkle too!). Sterling Silver jewelry may tarnish, however it can easily be cleaned up. If the method above fails, use a Sterling Silver cleaner or polish to bring it back to life. Whether washing your hands, swimming or your cleaning jewelry, be sure to completely dry your permanent jewelry after it's submerged.
