Fall Jewelry Trends 2026: A Rhode Island Jeweler’s Guide to Styling the Season

Fall has always been a season for layers — and in 2026, that applies just as much to jewelry as it does to your wardrobe.

This season is less about perfectly matched sets and more about jewelry that feels collected over time: mixed metals, layered chains, genuine gemstones, meaningful symbols, unexpected textures, and pieces that tell a little bit of your story.

When it comes to fall jewelry trends for 2026, that approach feels especially natural at bijoux x brie. I love jewelry that can be layered, personalized, mixed, and worn differently depending on your mood.

Whether you’re refreshing your everyday stack or looking for one new piece to carry you into fall, these are some of my favorite ways to wear jewelry this season.

1. Layered Necklaces That Feel Collected, Not Matched

The best necklace layers don’t look like they came together as a set. They look like pieces you’ve collected because you genuinely love them.

For fall, try combining different chain weights, lengths, textures, and pendants. Start with a shorter, simpler chain near the collarbone, add something with a little personality in the middle, and finish with a longer pendant or gemstone piece.

Don’t be afraid to mix delicate and substantial pieces. A fine chain beside a chunkier link can make both feel more intentional.

This is also where personalized jewelry works beautifully. A birthstone, charm, celestial symbol, initial, or meaningful pendant gives the entire stack a focal point without making everything match.

Styling tip: If your necklaces are competing with one another, vary their lengths a little more. Each piece should have enough room to be seen.

2. Genuine Gemstones Bring Color Into Fall

Fall doesn’t mean your jewelry has to become brown, black, and neutral.

Genuine gemstones are one of my favorite ways to introduce color while still keeping a jewelry collection sophisticated and wearable. Rather than overwhelming an outfit, a gemstone can become that small unexpected detail that makes everything else more interesting.

Look for stones with natural variation rather than expecting every bead or stone to look identical. Those differences in color, pattern, clarity, and shape are part of what makes genuine gemstones so beautiful.

At bijoux x brie, you’ll find pieces featuring genuine stones such as turquoise, amethyst, opal, aquamarine, topaz, freshwater pearls, Herkimer diamonds, and more.

Pair gemstone jewelry with denim, leather, knits, neutrals, or even other gemstones. There really aren’t as many rules as we’ve been taught to think there are.

3. Mixing Gold and Silver Is Very Much Allowed

If you’ve ever been told you need to choose between being a “gold person” and a “silver person,” consider this your permission to ignore that rule.

Mixed metals can make a jewelry stack feel more effortless and much more interesting.

The easiest place to start is somewhere you already have repetition: stack a Sterling Silver bracelet beside a Gold-Filled bracelet, mix metals across your rings, or let one necklace introduce the opposite metal into an otherwise monochromatic layer.

You don’t need a perfect 50/50 balance. Sometimes one silver piece among several gold pieces — or the reverse — is exactly what makes the combination work.

And if your everyday jewelry already includes something you never remove, like permanent jewelry, don’t feel obligated to match everything else to it. Build around it.

4. Jewelry With Meaning Isn’t Going Anywhere

One of the biggest shifts in jewelry isn’t really a trend at all: people increasingly want pieces that mean something to them.

Birthstones can represent children or family. A charm can mark a place, memory, person, interest, or milestone. Zodiac signs, moons, stars, angel numbers, evil eyes, initials, and other symbols can carry meaning that’s obvious to everyone — or known only to the person wearing them.

And sometimes the meaning is simply: I saw it, loved it, and bought it for myself.

Your jewelry doesn’t need an elaborate story to deserve a place in your collection.

The best part about meaningful jewelry is that it layers beautifully with everything else. A symbolic piece becomes the anchor, while simpler chains and textures build around it.

5. Statement Earrings Are an Easy Way to Change Everything

You don’t need an entirely new jewelry wardrobe for fall.

Sometimes earrings are enough.

A longer drop, unexpected gemstone, mismatched pair, chain detail, or interesting shape can completely change a simple outfit — especially as sweaters, jackets, and higher necklines start competing with necklaces for attention.

If your outfit is doing a lot, keep the earrings simple. If your clothes are minimal, let your earrings become the interesting part.

And don’t assume your earrings need to perfectly match your necklace. Jewelry feels much more modern when the pieces relate to one another without looking like a prepackaged set.

6. Permanent Jewelry Becomes Part of the Stack

Permanent jewelry doesn’t have to be the entire look.

In fact, one of my favorite ways to wear it is as the foundation of a larger jewelry stack.

A delicate permanent bracelet can sit alongside a watch, cuff, beaded bracelet, traditional chain bracelet, or another permanent piece. The contrast between textures makes the stack feel collected rather than overly coordinated.

The same idea works with necklaces. Permanent jewelry can become the everyday layer you build around, while traditional pieces come and go depending on your outfit.

This is also why choosing a permanent piece you genuinely love matters more than choosing whatever feels trendy in the moment. It’s going to become part of your everyday jewelry wardrobe.

The Real Fall 2026 Jewelry Trend? Make It Yours.

Trends can be great inspiration, but your jewelry collection shouldn’t look like everyone else’s.

Mix the metals. Layer the necklaces you’re “not supposed” to wear together. Wear the sentimental charm next to the gemstone you bought simply because you loved the color. Pair something delicate with something chunky. Add another bracelet to the stack.

The most interesting jewelry collections usually aren’t the most perfectly coordinated ones.

They’re the ones that look like the person wearing them.

At bijoux x brie, that’s exactly how I approach jewelry — intuitive, layered, complex. Like you.
